Will a focus on increased first hand experiences of poetry and performances improve overall literacy attainment? Can this idea be developed through a child autonomous research project?
In a nutshell, can we as adults scaffold a research process that allows children to unveil possible answers to the questions we would like to try and solve?

What do we think we might find out?
Before we start this project we need to try and think about what might actually happen, here are some of our ideas and comments.
Poetry might help me to spell bigger words correctly and understand the meanings of new words. I'm happy to be in the research group because I don't know a lot about poems and I would like to learn more. This research is important because it might make more people read poems and make poems popular. I think this project will make me a better writer because I will understand more words and I can put emotion stuff in my stories. Katie
(1) Poetry will help us with our writing because we will use words that we have not learnt before. (2) The research question is important to me because I will learn a lot more about poetry. This project will help us learn and discover new and exciting words. This research question is important because it makes us aware of different poems with different emotions expressed through writing and new words. It is important to do this researc h as it will help me learn more about poetry and i will be able to use more different words in my everyday vocabulary. Poems can help you know more about rhymes .It can help you write longer sentences and words. Poems are good because they help people get better at writing a poem. If you listen to what the teachers say you will understand how to write better. I am glad to be in the researchers group because I enjoy poems and wanted to learn more about them. After we have done this project, we can tell our friends about poetry and maybe they will read more poems and get better at it. I think this project will help me to become a better writer because I will learn different words and different ways of writing.
